Meet The Burb Girl

Hello there lovelies!

I think it's time I did a post on the real life of The Burb Girl! This post will include my current season of life, why I started blogging/Inspo, and any other random details I see necessary to share. I also want this to be an open forum for any questions that you might have in the comments below ↓↓↓

If you haven't made it over to my About Me page yet, I will fill you in on a few basic detes. My real name is Lauren and I am 21 years old living in Portland, Oregon. I currently attend Portland State University as a junior where I am pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Leadership. Go Viks! Lately I have been taking 16 credits (4 classes) a term. This heavy school load has made it difficult at times to focus on my blog and write out a post - especially after I get done writing a 20 page research paper. All in all I truly enjoy school and I am very thankful for the opportunity!

My current season of life is rather busy. But honestly, whose isn't? We are living in a very fast-paced world. I am the kind of person that can't sit for very long, so busy is something that I embrace. I recently picked up a job at a local coffee shop, I am involved at my church, I have school, blogging and chores. I could do without the last one. I will also note that I can't say no to anything (my friends, family AND boyfriend can vouch for that), so that also adds other adventures to my life. Not to mention, I am very much a social butterfly that thrives from being around people. So if you're ever in the area and looking to grab coffee, I am so down!

Why I started blogging stems from where I'm at in life. About a year and a half ago I had a rather scary dream that woke me up at 3 in the morning. The dream was very detailed both emotionally and visually. Basically I died in the dream and at my funeral someone asked, "what do you remember about Lauren? Is there anyone willing to share?" and no one raised their hand. Someone broke the silence by saying, "We don't know what she is remembered for." To hear that was overwhelming to say the least. At 3 AM, pen and paper in hand, I started writing out the things that I was passionate about and what I wanted to be remembered for. One thing on that list was my sense of style. I concluded that I also loved to write, so I put two and two together to create this blog, The Burb Girl.

The inspiration behind this blog is found in the name itself. The suburbs of Portland is where I was literally born and raised. The style that I have developed because of it is youthful and also budget savvy. I wasn't shopping at Pioneer Place seeking out designer brands growing up, I was at the local mall shopping back to school sales. This sense of style has allowed me to explore my roots in the Northwest and find joy in shopping local. I truly feel like I live on a gold mine when it comes to style and fashion. There are so many local shops and artisans waiting to be discovered here in Portland! I also enjoy online shopping and consignment, which you will frequently find featured on my blog.

Thanks for being such good listeners! I truly adore you all and can't thank you enough for the constant support. So if any of this halfway interests you, or you just wanted to grab coffee, subscribe/comment below!
