Date Night out in Portland // Henry's Tavern

Henry's Tavern

If you're looking for a wide array of food options, a vast bar, and the perfect atmosphere for families, date nights and vibey scenes, this is your place! Since you're already here, come dive into my date night below...

As you walk into Henry's Tavern, you feel like you are taking a step back in time. Between the rich colors, artwork and layout, this place is filled with history! You can check out their story here. There are so many options as far as where to dine, and each creates a completely different experience. There is the upstairs balcony equipped with a full bar, tables, and even billiards. The main dining area, with more of a dim lit romantic feel, is perfect for a date night out. There are larger tables that accommodate family and birthday functions. And lastly, there is the main bar room with a lively scene and drinks galore! There you can catch a sports game, retreat to the dim lit tables or even venture out back to the lovely deck with hanging lights. As you can see, this place has it all!

Round one of our dining experience consisted of appetizers and drinks. When you open their menu, you quickly realize how many options you have! It's best to dive into the menu first and get something started, that way you have some time to pick out the rest of your meal. Lucky for us, the menu caters to all sorts of palettes! The spicy ahi sushi roll and housemade hummus with olive tapenade were our appetizers of choice. As for our drinks, we took advantage of the unique and rather hard-to-find options Henry's has to offer. Here we have the Oregon Flight and the Fruit Loop.  If you are wondering where to begin on the extensive drink menu, ask your server or the bartender. Everyone there is so friendly and knowledgeable!

When choosing your entree at Henry's, there is again, a wide array of options. You are bound to find something that both of you like on your date night! We chose from the Henry's Special menu which features some of their most popular dishes. Featured here is the Pepper Crusted Columbia River Steelhead with grilled asparagus, mashed potatoes and a honey mustard glaze. Needless to say, the dish was gone in a matter of minutes because it was so tasty! We also dove into the Mac & Cheese Burger which fulfilled every childhood dream of mine in one meal. These are definitely meals worth sharing that way you and your date can experience this restaurant to its fullest!

By the time you reach the dessert menu, you are probably feeling rather full. I encourage you to at least try one of their delicious dessert specials because it's definitely the icing on the cake to a tasty evening! For us, we shared this impeccable Key Lime Pie complete Nellie and Joe's famous key lime juice, graham cracker crust and whipped cream. Trust me, you don't want to miss this grand finale.

I can't wait to see your Henry's Tavern dining experience too! And don't forget to follow along with them on social media for awesome events and new treats!
